America suffers from "purple pen syndrome"

One of the biggest problems plaguing modern day America is what should be diagnosed as "Purple Pen Syndrome". For those of you unfamiliar with it, let me explain:

A few years back some idiot in the education system, with more degrees than brains, decided that RED was an "Aggressive color that scared children". If a child got a book report or a test returned with too much red ink, it would hurt the child's feelings.  Anyway, these rocket surgeons decided all teacher comments on papers (passing or failing) should be written in PURPLE ink. This is a much gentler color and won't burn the retinas out of a poor child's eyes.

Nobody says it better than George Carlin (YouTube it) Every child is SPECIAL. No child FAILS. No child LOSES. Even last place kids get a trophy now. Quoting Mr. Carlin, no child gets to hear those all-important character-building words "YOU LOST. You're a LOSER."  When I was a kid we all knew second place was the first loser.  We knew it was okay to lose but it was better to win.
